My family and I are going to Joplin to do some work in the next few weeks, I think it is important for my boys to understand the devastation.
We will be going either July 9th or 23rd. I have spoken with a coordinator in Joplin, they are not in need of food but do need money for supplies and they also need help. Clearing debris, cleaning, painting, etc.
She is going to let me know what items might be needed, but could include any of the following : tarps, hammers, wood, nails, chain saws (if you want to send one for us to use we can bring it back) and other misc. construction type items.
You are also welcome to come along!
If you would like to donate, or need any additional information please email me: MicheleLFelton@aol.com with Joplin as the subject!
Thanks!

Last night I received a call from an agency requesting help for a family with 5 children ages 11 and under.
The families gas has been turned off due to a past due bill in excess of $2,000.00. The family does have electric so they are heating their apartment with a couple of small space heaters.
The children do not have beds of any sort, they are sleeping on the floor with blankets. They also do not have a working refrigerator.
The apartment that they are living in is not appropriate so they are also looking for a new place, the mom is able to pay up to 650.00 per month in rent.
The hope is to provide some sort of assistance to this family in the next 48 hours.
If you are able to show some love to this family, please contact me at MicheleLFelton@aol.com for additional information.

In January a group of Washington University students will be traveling to Honduras as part of the Washington University Public Health Brigades.
Public Health Brigades at Washington University St. Louis is a chapter of Global Brigades, the world's largest student-led global health and sustainable development organization. The PHB chapter systematically works with more than 300 other university groups around the world to deliver and implement one of nine skill-based programs that benefit more than 130,000 Honduran and Panamanian community members annually. The brigade begins with an introduction to the challenges that face community members. The following days the volunteers travel to one of Global Brigades' partner communities to implement health education, meet with community leaders, conduct survey research, and work alongside the community as an international team to construct four health projects.

Helping Haiti
The rebuilding continues in Haiti and mission teams from all over the world are continuing to go and help.
I have a request from a team going in a few weeks for some barbies and hotwheels. No matter what else happens, children are still children and in addition to food and clothing they need smiles. Let's show them some love!
If you can help, please leave a comment or email me at MicheleLFelton@aol.com and I will get you in contact with the appropriate people.
Thanks!

A former Real Estate Colleague had a fire in one of her rental buildings.
Thankfully, no one was hurt but the family in the home lost a lot of personal items.
One of the rooms was heavily damaged and all the things in the room were lost.
The family is in need of Boys clothing size 16, girls clothing size 8, they also lost a dresser a mattress and bed springs and bedding.
Those are the items she said they needed, but I am sure if you wanted to throw in a toy or a stuffed animal or some books (there is also a baby boy) it would be greatly appreciated.
Do you want to show them something good?
Email me at MicheleLFelton@aol.com if you have items you would like to donate, or you can leave a comment here.
